The pair is defeated by Baou Zakeruga, but they survive and manage to escape without burning the book (in the anime, they jump off a cliff into the nearby river before be hit by Baou Zakerga).
After some time, they come across Ibaris. They mention how strong he is and how angry they are in his attacks. After the mamodos use their final spells, they are surrounded by Babiru, Kalura and Denshin. Garza is confused by the sudden appearance of the mamodo and Byonko explains that the mamodo have no interest, except to destroy Baransha's book, just before the quartet defeats Baransha and burns his book.
Garza is shown among book owners to receive a letter from his mamodo. He now also has a cat that looks similar to his previous mamodo, showing how much he misses her.
