During the battle of the orbital elevator, Andrei becomes convinced that his father betrayed the federation after he sees Sergei and the rebel federation forces leader working together to stop the orbital elevator from falling. In a fit of rage he kills his father when Sergei attempts to tell him about how the A-Laws were the ones who caused the orbital elevator to fall. During Celestial Beings's final battle with the A-Laws, Soma Peries makes him come to terms with his feelings toward his father and helps him understand his father's motivations, as well as the reasons why his mother had to die.
